Our First Days Postpartum with Mila Joy

Names hold great significance for us, and it truly takes the entire pregnancy and even into when our babies arrive to decide on who they will be called. Mike and I knew that we wanted a name just as special and meaningful as our boys for this little one. It had to be unique and fit the tiny package that was growing moment by moment.

Mila comes from the word milagro which means “miracle” in Spanish. Joylynne (different spelling) means Joyful One; God shall add.

Mila truly is a miracle, honestly because out of 14 grandchildren between Mike and I, this is the very FIRST girl! Yes, that means Mila is surrounded by 13 boys within the family, between siblings and cousins… that’s a lot of male vibes.

Her middle name also speaks to the joy she has brought us even before arriving. Along with a tribute to a special family friend who was always kind, loving, gentle, and selfless – her middle name was Lynne.

I keep waking up in awe just at her existence. This time has been extremely sweet as my mom is here to help with all the recovery and adjustments that come with four kids. So to capture the first few days with my actual dslr were funny and magical. Moments that become cherished memories which will all be told to our Mila one day.
