The holidays have been in full gear, but we haven’t had much time to slow down. I’ll be honest I envisioned resting a bit more the weeks prior to going on Christmas break, but I’ve done anything but that. From preparing pacing guides, to working on ministry plans, and yes finally getting my kids’ physicals done…because somehow we missed that during the summer?? Oh parenthood. Either way even with so much to check off on the to-do list, I’m glad that I can finally take a breath.
It can be challenging to pack in all of the family traditions during the holidays, and we haven’t always been the best at compromising during the season. But last year we made some changes and this year we were able to reap what we’ve hoped for…a memorable time for the boys. So our first stop was with my extended family through marriage. With lots of laughs, food, and yes nerf gun fights it was the perfect kick off to our days leading up to Christmas.
Traditionally, Christmas would be celebrated on the 24th with all of us staying up late, but this year we will be gathering for New Years instead to bring in 2019! I’m really thankful that my kids get to enjoy more than just their immediate family, especially during this season. To know that they are surrounded not only by parents that adore them, but an entire village. We had a blast on our first Christmas stop this year and am excited for the next several days of fun planned.
