Easter is one of my favorite holidays, honestly. We’ve started a family tradition of hosting an Easter Egg hunt and party that everyone looks forward to! Our house is full of screaming kids, laughter, chaos, and such good food. It was the perfect recipe for what has become one of our favorite gatherings at our home.
If you haven’t noticed Mike and I love hosting family and friends. The time together to talk, relax, and watch our children enjoy is priceless. Being able to be near family is a blessing that I see consistently.
We started hosting our own Easter egg hunt and party, since we are usually so busy working during our church wide egg hunt our kids don’t really get to enjoy themselves. So everyone pitches in with filled easter eggs and brings a favorited dish. Each time it’s turned out that all the kids leave with more than their eyes and stomachs can handle – which I love!!
How to Host your own Easter Egg Hunt & Party
If you’re new to hosting parties I want to encourage you that they are far easier than you may think! No you don’t have to go crazy and buy tons of decor or everything be Pinterest perfect. Instead I’ve taken the approach that hosting is much more an opportunity to invite and commune with people we most enjoy. So Mike and I focus on time spent rather than appearances. It helps with difusing any potential stress.
So as you prepare to host your own party here are some helpful tips that I use:
- Consider a Potluck! Cooking for a large group is overrated, yes I said that. So instead of stressing on a menu ask everyone to bring one simple dish and you provide the main. For us we will usually do a roast or chicken and allow everyone to bring additional sides or meat to grill. Having others pitch in secures them coming AND gives you a moment of relief.
- Think of kid friendly ideas! Whether it’s confetti eggs, or fun egg trophies for games, there are so many wonderful ideas that kids will love. Even a fun scavenger hunt will get the kids moving and allow for more time together to chat and enjoy some rest.
- Have EVERYONE bring a bag of Easter eggs! This has been the secret success of our easter egg hunt & party… and truthfully everyone is all in. We all realize that the more eggs we gather the bigger the spoils are for the kids. Everyone leaves with basketfuls of easter eggs which makes it spectacular.
So whether you’re planning for a party with a few or many, these ideas will definitely help get you started. An Easter egg hunt & party is a wonderful way to get dear friends and even family together for new memories. My parents always come which are sweeter moments that I wouldn’t trade for anything.
Easter is much more than just a holiday for us, and I’m grateful to share and celebrate the freedom I have because of what Christ’s sacrifice. As much as I enjoy hosting, I enjoy the community I’ve found in serving God at my local church. We’ve gained genuine friends and strengthened family bonds as a result of it.
I know that “church” isn’t for everyone, but community is. This is why we prayed to have the home that we do this very thing. Invite people and share moments of community with them. I pray that you were able to be with those you love this past weekend as well.
