Cozying Up for Christmas: Our Ultimate Movie Marathon Picks!

Let’s Set the Scene

Hey there, we’re continuing with the festivities of Blogmas! Picture this: the tree is twinkling, the cocoa’s steaming and the aroma of freshly baked cookies fills the air. It’s the perfect setting for a cozy Christmas movie marathon, don’t you think? Today, I’m sharing our family’s top picks for the ultimate festive film fest. Grab your favorite blanket and join us on this cinematic sleigh ride!

1. The Classics: Deck the Halls with Nostalgia

First up, we’re diving into the classics that never lose their magic. “It’s a Wonderful Life” is a must—it’s like a warm hug for the soul. And who can resist the misadventures of Kevin McCallister in “Home Alone”? It’s a nostalgic trip down memory lane, and my kids absolutely adore the slapstick humor.

2. Animated Delights: Where Magic Meets Animation

Next on our list, we’re venturing into the realm of animated wonders. “The Polar Express” is practically a ticket to the North Pole, and the animation is just mesmerizing. And of course, there’s “The Grinch”—Jim Carrey’s antics never fail to tickle our funny bones. It’s a visual feast for the kiddos and a chuckle-fest for the adults.

3. Feel-Good Family Flicks: Warmth for Everyone

For those heartwarming family moments, “Elf” is an absolute winner. Will Ferrell as Buddy brings a unique charm that transcends generations. And have you seen “The Christmas Chronicles”? Kurt Russell as Santa? Yes, please! It’s got the perfect blend of adventure and holiday spirit that keeps everyone hooked.

4. Quirky Christmas Comedy: A Giggle a Minute

Sometimes, you just need a good laugh. “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” is a staple in our house. The Griswold family’s holiday escapades are hilariously relatable. And for a touch of British humor, “Love Actually” is a whimsical journey through love stories intertwined with the magic of Christmas. It’s like a festive rom-com buffet.

5. Hidden Gems: Unwrapping Something New

Every year, we like to toss in a wildcard—a movie we’ve never seen before. Last year’s gem was “Klaus” on Netflix. It’s a heartwarming animated tale that quickly became a family favorite. So, this year, we’re on the lookout for another hidden treasure. Any suggestions?

Your Turn to Share!

And there you have it, our Christmas movie marathon lineup! Now, I’d love to hear from you. What are your go-to festive films that never fail to sprinkle a bit of magic into your holiday season? Drop your favorites in the comments below, and let’s create the ultimate cinematic community for cozy Christmas nights!

  • This time last year, the Lord started challenging the thought of pausing our homeschooling journey. Honestly… I wasn’t happy about it because it wasn’t part of my plan. Even the kids weren’t fully on board at first. 🥹

If I’m being honest, part of me felt like I was losing. Homeschooling isn’t easy, and after years of pouring into our kids, I wrestled with whether putting them in school meant I had somehow failed them.

But somehow through all the emotions, questions, and transitions, we made it through their first year in school.

And wow… proud is an understatement.

Each of them shattered every stereotype people love to place on homeschooled kids. They shined bright, made meaningful friendships, adapted with courage, and walked into new spaces fully themselves.

This year reminded me that what is poured into our kids at home goes with them wherever they go. Everything we’ve prayed over them, spoken over them, and believed about them showed up in real time.

Watching them succeed didn’t make me feel like I had failed. It reminded me that this season wasn’t the end of something. It was evidence that God had been faithful through all of it. ❤️

  • Random Friday thoughts… because I can’t shop anyone’s like it at this point 😒
  • Someone recently asked me when I realized I had experienced agape love… and honestly, my first thought was my mom and my sister.

Life has held its share of complicated chapters, and I know what it’s like to navigate distance and hard seasons. Getting older and healing has a way of adjusting the lens. Hindsight really does show you the gifts that were there all along.

This weekend we celebrated my sister’s birthday, and looking back at this photo of us as kids, I’m reminded how precious it is to grow up and realize your big sister is truly your best friend.

Some love doesn’t need to be loud to be deep. I’m really grateful. #sistersister

Learned how to pencil fight from what appears to be a retired middle school pencil-fighting champion. His technique was oddly specific… like this man definitely had a reputation in 7th grade 😂✏️
