How to draw a Bunny Tutorial for Kids

1st grade Bunny Face Practice!

I love teaching! The opportunity to show kids that they really can draw is my favorite part of this job. So many times I hear my students think they can’t. But I’m a firm believer that with help, you definitely can.

So in the spirit of Spring I wanted to share a series of animal drawing tutorials! You can follow the written step by step below or download the PDF. Also as you go through this, please have fun. Everyone has their own fun and quirky style which makes art what it is! Please be sure to tag me on Instagram or leave a comment so I can see your masterpieces!!

DRAW LIGHT UNTIL YOU KNOW IT’S RIGHT! We will be erasing steps 🙂

FACE

Step 1: Start with 2 basic circles that overlap – like the number 8. Make sure the third circle touches the bottom of the second circle.

Step 2: Create an outline over the two main circles. This will become the face shape. Also outline the third circle.

Step 3: ERASE your circles to reveal your face shape. Add face details and a nose/mouth.

EARS

Step 1: Start with 2 basic shapes – a circle and a triangle. This will look like an upside down ice cream cone.

Step 2: Outline over your shapes and ERASE your ice cream cone shape! HELLO EARS!

BODY

Step 1: The main body is a circle within a circle. Draw a big circle and add another circle for the tummy

Step 2: The front paws will be a rectangle with a circle at the end, do this twice.

Step 3: The back paws are half circles. Put these right on the sides of the body.

Step 4: Put all of your shapes together and ERASE your basic shapes.

DETAILS

Step 1: Now that you have the basic shapes together for your bunny, let’s have some fun!

Step 2: Add fur over your body. Your fur can look fluffy or like zig zags, whichever you like.

Step 3: Erase and clean up any lines that overlap or cross one another!
