A Hotel Birthday Party

August 19, 2018 Comment : 1

Our big boy is 6!

If you know Kai you know he loves a great party AND he loves hotels. With traveling for ministry events, we do our best to bring the boys with us so they can experience what we do. As challenging as staying in a hotel with 3 kids can be, I have to say it’s quite fun.

We spent our weekend away at the National Harbor, which allowed for us to explore some local fun for a change. The original plan was to head to the beach, but between traffic and distance we opted to stay close to home. I have to say the National Harbor is really cool. From shops to the ferry and even an open game of corn hole we had plenty to do.

To imagine our boy being six is crazy to me. He is the greatest joy in our lives, and the best big brother. Kai is thoughtful, extremely smart, giving, and incredibly witty. He is coming into his own young boy, and my heart is excited yet aches at the transition.

This year he wanted a Nintendo DS, which I did not want to get… We aren’t a “no screens” family, but introducing a lot of technology makes me hesitant. I never want the boys to become so dependent on technology that they forget to use their imagination. Without a lot of prompting from my husband, and reminding me that we are the parents who set the tone – we got him one. To see his face was worth it.

Happy sweet sixth birthday boo, we adore and love you to the moon and back.

Follow Me... Through the gospels I see Jesus call Follow Me...

Through the gospels I see Jesus calling for people to follow him. Not to a program or an event - but the opportunity to watch him live life in Spirit and in Truth. Live in a way that brought each person closer to God not the creeds of religion.

I remember the last few years of full time ministry for me how a mentor of mine challenged me to reevaluate how I was on boarding/leading people to Jesus. How was I teaching others to see Christ more than a method or strategy.

That work is different.

It’s also life giving.

As I continue to read through the scriptures I’m reminded to clarify don’t follow me. JOIN me as I follow Christ and we’ll walk, grow, fail, and learn from Him together.

If we all saw each other as fellow students rather than how we believe our gifts elevate ourselves over one another.

“The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.” Luke‬ ‭6:40‬ #readwithme30

I think I finally figured out the crochet gauge on this hat and am making my fourth one 🧶

Any crochet or knitting friends out here? #crochetbonnetsbaby
Some homeschool days we’re all killin it. Everyo Some homeschool days we’re all killin it. Everyone is excited, there’s cool ways of learning, and it’s a win all around!

Other days it feels like I’m pulling teeth...everyone is dragging and I’m herding cats - y’all I’m not a cat person either 😑

We’ve been moving more towards organic and clean options from the inside out especially in our diet. I started off with their postpartum probiotics and now introducing this line for our kids 👌🏽

What are some techniques you use in helping your kids focus on those tough #homeschooling days? #maryruthpartner
